Hospital Walkathon Promotes Heart Health Awareness
On World Heart Day, our hospital organized a walkathon, to promote health awareness and encourage people to take care of their hearts. Participants wore white T-shirts and carried red balloons as they walked with motivation and health awareness messages. The event was a great success, with many people coming out to support the cause.
Our CEO was very pleased with the event, saying that it was a "fantastic way to raise awareness about the importance of heart health and to get people involved in their community." He also thanked all of the participants for their support, saying that the event would not have been possible without them.
N M Wadia Institute of Cardiology Celebrates Doctors’ Day on 1st July 2021.
Senior Consultants like Dr A.D Katdare, Dr Navtej Singh, Dr D.B Gaware, Dr Ritu Bhatia, Dr D.D Shetty, Dr Ashish Khanijo, Dr Avijit Basu, Dr Kiran Khanvilkar, Dr Anuja Mulay and Anesthetists along with NMWIC HOD’s attended the event. Addressing the August gathering, Mr. Shailesh Dalvie – CEO, NMWIC said ,“We have been battling a very grave situation since the last one and half years in the form of the Covid pandemic . The medical fraternity has struggled to save lives and has brought hope to many families. It is difficult to express in words the contribution of our Doctors . Whilst, NMWIC has been providing the best Cardiac treatment and facility to its patients for over 50 years, we have also been treating Covid Patients in
these critical times. As we celebrate Doctors’ Day, let us all pay our utmost respect to the selfless efforts taken by our Doctors to serve their patients in the best possible way. Let us rejoice in their achievements today and hope that the day will soon arrive when the entire humanity will be free of this deadly virus.”
SBI Vaccination Drive
N. M Wadia Institute of Cardiology (NMWIC) has initiated a Covid 19 Vaccination Drive for the employees of State Bank of India (SBI) on the SBI Campus from June 6, 2021 onwards. 876 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far that included age group of 18 to 44 for First Dose and age group of 45+ and 60+ for Second Dose. “Even though we are a Super Speciality Heart Hospital, we have taken the responsibility to vaccinate the citizens of Pune against this deadly Virus. We have put in place a systematic protocol and have a dedicated Team of trained Doctors and Nurses to conduct such Vaccination drives in Pune and its peripheries” mentioned Mr Shailesh Dalvie – CEO, NMWIC.

Fight against COVID
In response to the COVID pandemic that swept the entire world, NMWIC started a 40-bed COVID Care facility from 1st August 2020 and has happily discharged 150 patients so far. NMWIC is proud to have a dedicated team of healthcare workers who showed great responsibility and valour during difficult times.
3D Echo Update 2020
N M Wadia Institute of Cardiology conducted a highly engaging and interactive workshop “3D Echo Update 2020” on 26 th Feb 2020.
The workshop was organized in association with Philips India Ltd. Dr. Raj Janardhanan (MD, MRCP, FACC, FASE) from Sarver Heart Centre, Banner University Medical Centre; Tucson, USA was the honorary speaker for the event. The event started with lectures on 3D Echocardiography: A look at standard routine practices followed by live demonstrations on 9 patients having various congenital heart conditions. Dr. Raj also provided hands on training to close to 10 cardiologists who attended the workshop.
3D Echo is the new dimension in the field of Echocardiography having the capability of generating anatomically sound and intuitive display of cardiac anatomy, aiding accurate quantification. N M Wadia institute of Cardiology is the first hospital in Maharashtra to have the state of the art Philips Epiq CVx machine.
DIL KI DHADKAN (FREE CHECKUP CAMP)
N M Wadia Institute of Cardiology collaborated with Lions Club, Pune on August 20th, 2019 to conduct a free medical checkup camp. We screened a total of 131 patients under ‘Healthy Hearts Initiative’. The attendees were screened for Blood pressure, blood sugar level and ECG, and were provided appropriate medical guidance for further management as required etc. We intend to conduct a series of similar events as a part of our outreach activities under our “Dil ki Dhadkan” initiative.

81-yr-old undergoes complex surgery
An 81-yr old woman of the city of Pune breathed a new life after undergoing an extremely complicated surgery at N. M. Wadia Institute of Cardiology. The woman was diagnosed with 95 percent blockages in her heart with the heart pumping reduced to 30%.
Let’s talk about Child Obesity
N. M. Wadia Institute of Cardiology organized a session on a grave issue of ‘Obesity in Children’ at Sardar Dastur School, Pune. Dr. Anuja Mulay delivered the talk which was attended by a 1000 parents.
