The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word 'yuj' which means 'to unite'. It also means 'to direct' 'to concentrate' (to mind and thoughts.)

Yoga asanas that can be performed for a Healthy heart

Tadasana :A simple vertical stretch in this asana helps to strengthen the heart and the vertebral column. Deep breathing while doing this asana can also help to expand and open up the chest cavity where vital organs such as the heart and the lungs are present .

Trikonasana : It helps in improving the breathing as it becomes rhythmic and deep in this forward bending and twisting pose

Marjarasana : A simple cat pose which brings the heart rate down and become rhythmic and soft . It also improves blood circulation in the body .

Bhujangasana :Bhujangasana stretches and opens up the chest region thereby invigorating the heart . It also helps in opening of the back muscles.

Setubandhasana :Also called as the bridge pose helps to improve the breathing capacity also stretches the spine and the chest and also improves blood circulation

Gomukhasana :Also known as the cow face posture. It helps to stretch the arms, triceps, shoulders and opens the chest. This asana has a positive effect on the respiratory system.
